In the world of hip-hop, Yoshi is utterly unique: a versatile rapper, poet, and songwriter who explores the alternative direction of healthy, conscious living. His passion to deliver uplifting and entertaining messages and hope for humanity is evident throughout the deep layers of his Pacific Islander and African American heritage and musical roots he embraces like no one else has (or could). Trained by his music teacher father and seasoned through years of poetry slams, talent shows, and musical and rap performances, Yoshi found his audience in the Metro Detroit hip-hop scene in the early 2000's while a student at Eastern Michigan University.

Always at the grindstone, he saw success as a rapper and songwriter while earning his degree in Communications. His creative combination of soul and swagger were immediately obvious upon the release of his tour de force "Unorthodox Slang." That disc, in addition to his EP "Headknod Oddyssey," latest album "The Talent Show," and most recent mixtape "Herstory in the Making," all proved popular with hugely diverse audiences from all over the world.

All of his work leading up to now, has set the stage for a rewarding career. His album, "The Talent Show," an incredible masterpiece of soulful hip hop beginning to end, debuted in February 2009 and is still receiving immense support and admiration across the globe. As shown by his endless and successful hustling for listeners, Yoshi is neither a hobbyist nor an amateur.

Yoshi is a rising and undeniable voice in hip-hop who has been compared to Common and L.L. Cool J., and has shared the stage with B.O.B., Big Sean, Mayer Hawthorne, Danny Brown, Saul Williams, Elzhi of Slum Village, Black Milk, One Be Lo, Miz Korona (best known for her appearance in "8 Mile"), Matthew Santos, long-time Wu-Tang collaborator Killah Priest, MTV2's Amanda Diva, Fred Hammond, HERO, God Make me Funky, Athletic Mic League, Subterraneous, and more.

Yoshi is a veteran of the business with underground credibility and mainstream appeal. His refreshingly pure, conscious, and soul-driven music as well as his intense personal charisma are already making him unstoppable in 2012-2013. Watch yourself. Yoshi is blowing up.

Can somebody say Amen

After a week of seeing different people come in our house and leave our house with smiles on there faces still our sublet process is not complete. I wake up today and meditate my stress's away. Well most of em. Yesterday I spent all day working on a proposal for a school in Washington heights who seem to be interested in having an after-school program formulated by my company Willpowa. Weeks went by and I spent my days working on music and completing songs in the studio only to leave the proposal writing up to a trusted friend and fellow mc. Suffice to say it never got completed due to my energy being scattered amongst recording and subleting my place. Not to mention being a good boyfriend through the process. So turns out my friends from the UK want to look over it this weekend so I will have to submit the proposal in a bit late anyhow but hopefully with more spunk than it had in the first place. Anyway lets just say the only thing that helped me from not having a nervous breakdow...
