Helping Others is Key

Are you a radical visionary looking to schedule more time for yoga, meditation. and consistent spiritual hygiene so you can continue to evolve into your highest self? I have a solution that solves the problem of creatives like you not have the time, money and energy it takes to be self reliant and able to work on said spiritual activation. "Having a safe secure J.O.B. will always leave you J.ust O.ver B.roke. You will always have slightly just over your monthly expenses. What if you could earn more money than your current expenses (and unforeseen expenses) with meaningful work doing what you love? Work to learn something that will bring you closer to your ideal version of you." Working with a nonprofit organization that aligns with your practice is one way an artist can afford to live but also keep in alignment with their path. I've incorporates this strategy into his own practice by working with  BEAT Global . "Beat Global is a Long Island City nonprofi

BEAT Birthday Bash Honoree

BEAT Birthday Bash Honoree    With just a few weeks away from our BEAT Birthday Bash we are super excited to announce that legendary Hip-Hop photographer, activist, documentarian and Hip-Hop personality  Joe Conzo  will be one of the honorees at our upcoming BEAT Birthday Bash.    Joe Conzo is known,  according to The New York Times  "as the man that took Hip-Hop's baby pictures" he was part of a generation that refused to be silenced by the choke of flame-engulfed South Bronx tenements and a disparaging educational system. The defiant voices of the youth gave rise to a cultural movement known as Hip Hop. At its early stage, Joe passionately embraced the role of photographer within the phenomenon. Most of those images from the 70’s and 80’s caught on b/w film by Joe, have traveled in one form or another to parts of Asia, Europe, and the Americas. They are regarded by genre experts and academians as an important visual record of key pioneers to the mod

From Giving TOO much- To Finding BALANCE

There was a time when I was continuously in financial strain and dragging everyone I loved down with me real fast. Although I was bringing in consistent income with my weekly DJ gig I had to freelance on top of that. Side jobs I took on ran the range of graphic designing event flyers, websites, building mobile apps, recording vocals, producing soundtracks, and djing for other artist performances. I was barely earning $100 for each project but spread much too thin to focus adequately on any one thing. Sometimes at the end of the month I would be busking - singing my own music on the subway - risking arrest all because I had too little money. In hindsight I see that I was wasting energy on menial jobs when I could have been focusing on my business.  One evening my partner of 2 years just got back from traveling through Asia as a teacher and asked me if I wanted to come meet her mom and her mom’s famous, financially successful brother for dinner at their favorite chinese restauran

115 Years Strong

Inside  the B E A T!  We are happy to share that on October 3rd our friends at the Lavelle School for the Blind, will be celebrating their 115th anniversary of serving children with visual impairments. For the last 10 years, we have had the honor of not only working with the youth there but also witnessing the transformative power of our BEAT Rockers program. If you haven't already, be sure to watch " When Art Meets Therapy " which highlights these amazing transformations.  Counting down to our own 10-year " BEAT Birthday Bash " on November 19th, we aspire to follow in the footsteps of organizations and schools like Lavelle School for the Blind to provide unique programming that serves the needs of populations often disenfranchised. To continue building our legacy of using Hip-Hop education to unlock the creative potential of young people, and to support our upcoming BEAT Birthday Bash, we invite you to make a contribution by clicking the link
