       Coinciding with the construction of elaborate Catholic Altars to St Joseph constructed in homes and churches by the Italian population of NewOrleansis a wild-Street Parade that carries on from morning to Night, where dancers and their followers wield flashlights against the darkness, illuminating their elaborate creations in beadwork, feathers and plumes inspired by the ceremonial suits and headdresses of the Plains Indians of the 19th century.
